Books, Kindle and old-fashioned me

As long as I remember myself, I loved to read. I read  school textbooks, newspapers, religious text (trust me with had a lot of those), famous Russian tales and fables, fiction, history almost everything I can get my hands on.  After I read every single book in school library, I sing up at city library forging my mom signature and become a member of a book club.  Mom was the one who introduced me to the joy of reading, although latter when my reading become interfering with my music lessons and school, she was    sorry :)
As I grow older wiser I realize that you have to be picky on what you read.  Learning English - reading was important in building vocabulary and sentence structure. I still remember my first fiction book in English, short romantic story that I read over night with level of understanding about 60%.  And that was just a beginning :)
I start adding books to my home library, because nothing can compare to re-reading all those favorites on long Friday nights.
Now the main reason for this post.  While travelling to Israel last month I took two books with me, I read them both, but... My travel companion had one of those Kindles e-book reader.  I know quite few people who were avid readers and now-days switch  to technology savvy equipment.  I'm not against them, but I'm not sure if I'd like one for my self.  To be able hold a real book, flip pages back and forth, keep them on shelves.... Whenever visiting someones place, by looking at their book shelves, reading title in their home library - one can actually learn a lot.  And what if we keep all our books hidden in electronic devise, how impersonal is that?
I might sound little old-fashioned, but I am! Instead of quick email I'd rather send a real postcard and wait for two-three weeks for reply. I do appreciate technology, here I am using my blog online to unload my thoughts and ideas, however I do believe that old ways not necessary is bad.

Ta-da for now, off to the post office to mail my stack of postcards :)
